What is the Gifted and Talented Academic (GATE) exam in

Western Australia?


The Gifted and Talented Academic (GATE) program exam in Western Australia is

designed to identify academically gifted students and provide them with opportunities

for advanced learning and enrichment.


The Gifted and Talented Academic (GATE) program exam in Western Australia is

conducted for a range of schools across the state. These schools include both public

and private institutions that participate in the GATE program. The exact list of

schools may vary each year, but typically, a significant number of schools offer the

exam to eligible students.





For admission to Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance programs, all

students must undergo the Academic Selective Entrance Test (ASET).


Academic applicants are evaluated solely based on their performance in the

Academic Selective Entrance Testing (ASET).


Arts applicants are required to complete the ASET, participate in an audition or

workshop, and may also be subject to an interview.


Language applicants must also undergo the ASET and may be asked to participate

in an interview as part of the assessment process.


The Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance Programs are offered in 18

public secondary schools in Western Australia. Here is a list of those schools:
